During the last 22 years of pastoral ministry, I’ve planted 3 churches, founded 2 non-profit ministries, written a book, home-schooled my teenage son through High School, coordinated multiple conferences, and volunteered with several faith-based non-profits. All of this has been extremely rewarding and I couldn’t have done it without your help and support. That said, I’ve sensed God calling me to take a sabbatical, a time to rest.
Until now, I’ve ignored the call because I couldn’t see how to do it. Too many responsibilities, too many obligations, people counting on me, etc. Sometimes it’s hard to see the forest for all the trees. But He’s inviting me to rest, and what I’ve learned over the last 22 busy years is this: I need to listen to Him.
Beginning Thursday, July 20th, I will be completely off the grid until September 3rd, taking a 40-day hike in the wilderness. One of my closest friends and I will hike 430 miles in the High Sierras of California. (I know this doesn’t sound like rest to some folks!) I’ll be back to work in mid-September.
While I’m off the grid, other IYL team members will continue updating our website, writing blog posts, and handling ministry correspondence.
I’d love it if you would pray for Marlina and I during this time. I’m excited to see how God will lead in this season of rest, and am praying for His vision for our future. Thanks so much for your prayers and support!
Blessings,
Bruce
