I’ve had a wonderful life already. If I died tomorrow, I would be eternally grateful for the time God gave me on earth. I’ve had more opportunities, more amazing experiences, and more incredible friends than I would have ever imagined.
I re-choose my gorgeous wife Marlina Martin for the next 50 or so years. She’s an amazing person and I wish all of you could know her as well as I do. She’s my girl!
The first half of my life has been way too much about me. I want to spend the rest of my time here helping and serving others. It’s the surest pathway to joy!
I have much to learn from others that I disagree with, think differently than, and even believe differently about things. Humility, not dogmatism, is the best practice for learning.
My wealth will never be measured in money. It’s measured in friendships. I am one of the wealthiest men in the world because of the richness of my friends. Thanks to each of you – you know who you are.
My greatest passion is still walking with God and sharing, teaching, and applying the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom. And I believe the Gospel is every single thing Jesus taught, not a few Bible facts about Jesus. He IS the King.
I want to spend the rest of my life making disciples who live in obedience to Jesus’ commands. He has our absolute best in mind. It seems to me this is the best criteria for assessing church health. The 3 “B”s of church growth: bodies, bucks and buildings are meaningless to me.
Finally, in God’s economy, helping, serving, blessing, and encouraging ONE person may be far more important and impactful than inspiring and instructing thousands, or even millions. Never doubt the incredible impact that you have in changing the world for good.
I appreciate your heart more than you will ever know. I needed to read this today. Thank you for sharing your heart on turning 54. So deeply meaningful!
